Sunbury Lay Ecumenical Committee Inc. (SLEC)

Mission Statement:

The purpose of the Sunbury Lay Ecumenical Committee is first to serve our God under the umbrella of the Sunbury Ministers' Fellowship.

To serve and to help organize the Christian events and services in which the Ministers' Fellowship are involved.

Our mission is to achieve a Christian outreach through these events into the Community of Sunbury for the Glory of our Lord.

Christmas on the green is a great family event where local schools partipate in singing Christmas carols with plenty of free family entertainment prior to the carols.

Each year the churches of Sunbury combine to celebrate Easter with a service on Good Friday.

Each year the World Day of Prayer is hosted by a different country with a theme from the host country.

The 2016 theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has been selected. Called to Proclaim the Mighty Acts of the Lord (cf. 1 Peter 2:9). For the coming year the theme finds its origins in the First Letter of Peter. The initial work on the theme for this year’s Week of Prayer material was prepared by a group of representatives from different parts of Latvia.
